Frequently Asked Questions

Why have a conference for social entrepreneurs?
We believe there has been a shift in the seasons.  For 30 years God has been releasing vision and now it is a season of birthing.  It is time to begin implementing vision in a tangible way, so we are offering these conferences to help people who already have a call from God so they can start right.

Is anyone else doing this kind of conference or is this a Plumbline thing?
Yes and no.  When God is bringing a new thing into the stream of human history, He does it through many streams of the Body of Christ simultaneously.  We assume others are also providing nuts and bolts coaching, but the majority of what is out there now is an exhortation to become involved, or a plea for you to support someone else’s vision.

Plumbline has always been focused on bringing a blend of principles and power to bear on problems in order to bring about transformation, so there is a Plumbline flavor to these events that makes them a bit different from the rest, but we do not in the least have a monopoly on what God is doing in this season.

What is a social entrepreneur?
A social entrepreneur is someone who has been called by God to change the values and structures of a particular sector of the culture.

Do you have to be a business owner to qualify?
This is not about owning a business.  Most social entrepreneurs are not business owners, church leaders or politicians.  They are private citizens who God has called to bring His values back into the culture in a way that changes the structures and produces new outcomes.

Is this about the seven mountains again?
No. The seven mountains vision is a broad concept of the final result.  These conferences are about starting right, and they are focused on the actual details of how an ordinary person can actually execute something God has called them to do, without having a large organization, substantial funding or a high profile in the community.

Where is this in the Bible?
King David was a premier social entrepreneur as he transformed the values and structure of an entire generation.  The early church was accused of turning the world upside down, they were so successful at changing the values of their culture.  As you look at the prophecies of the final restoration, every prophetic picture is about the culture being transformed, not just religion being mass produced.  In the past, God has redeemed people from out of the culture.  Now He is moving toward redeeming the entire culture. This is social entrepreneurship.

Is being a social entrepreneur a new thing?
No.  History has celebrated some immense social entrepreneurs such as Florence Nightingale, William Wilberforce, Hans Nielsen Hauge and George Washington Carver.  What is new is that God has released this grace at an unprecedented level on this generation.  It is His desire to have tens of thousands of transformations under way simultaneously, not just one or two massive ones.

Should everyone be a social entrepreneur?
No.  It is a calling.  God has to design you in the womb for this task, and then called you to it.

Will you be providing cover for my venture?
No.  Plumbline Ministries is not a covering organization.  We will provide strategy and coaching.

Can we join Plumbline’s projects?
No.  This is to equip you to pursue your own project.

Will there be a follow-up program for people who don’t know how to do this?
Yes.  There will be four levels.

  1. Those who know they are called to this but are still in the refiner’s fire.

  2. Those who are ready to start now.

  3. Those who have a prototype, but need to take it to the mainstream.

  4.  Those who have impacted their target, but need to make it a generational impact.

Details will be available at the conference.

How do I connect with others?
When you arrive at the conference, there will be options for you to connect based on geography or interest. However, the responsibility is primarily on you to listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and participate in the divine encounters that He orchestrates for you.

Who will be speaking?
There are seven Plumbliners who will be speaking.

Why don’t I recognize any of your speakers?
Social entrepreneurs by nature are doers, not public speakers.  These people are known in their circles for the impact they have made, but are not celebrities on a national level.

What have they accomplished that makes them qualified to teach?
They have started!  None of these speakers have accomplished big enough things that they are assured a place in the history books.  But these conferences are about starting right and these seven speakers have.

One of the hardest steps is to begin.  There are tens of thousands of people who have been carrying a vision that they have not been able to implement.  These speakers have begun to implement their vision and that makes them people highly worth listening to.

Are there only two conferences to choose from?

Yes.  We anticipate doing this on an annual basis to share the wisdom that is generated in the field, but for 2010, these are the only conferences scheduled on this theme at this time.

Will this be recorded?
We are hoping to record but that is not a guarantee.

Will you have materials for sale?
Yes, we will have all of the Plumbline materials there and some of the speakers will also have materials tables.

What teachings do you have on social entrepreneurship?
Nothing, yet!  A great number of our teachings are about tools that a social entrepreneur would use somewhere in his process, but we do not have specific teachings on how to put it all together.  We will be developing these resources over the coming years.  That is why we are doing these conferences this year, to help people start right.

Do you give discounts to couples?
No.  This discriminates against singles and we happen to value singles very highly.

Do you provide child care?
No.  But we are a child friendly organization.  You may bring children of all ages.  Arrange your seating so you can slip out easily if one of your children gets a bit excited.  There is no charge for children 18 and under.  You may bring the entire family for the price of an adult registration.

Do you offer refunds if we can’t make it?
Yes.  We will issue a full refund for any full price registration up to closing time on the Wednesday before the event, if you call the office and explain your situation.

Do you offer discounts?
Yes.   We offer discounts for groups that register as a block.  If you have ten or more people who are registering as a group, you are eligible for a price of $95 per person.  You will need to submit all the names by e-mail at one time to Megan@TheSLG.comInclude address and e-mail for each one.  Then call Megan to arrange payment by credit card over the phone.  This applies to the conference registration fees only, not to hotel accommodations.

We do not offer refunds for those who registered as a group.  You will need to find your own replacement to take your space within the group, and then notify the office of the change.

How do I sign up for personal ministry?
There is no personal ministry offered as part of these conferences. This is an equipping time.

What prophets will be there?
We have no prophets scheduled to speak or to minister prophetically.  This is a nuts and bolts “how-to-do-it” conference.  We assume you already have the vision and the calling before you come.
